Terms of Use

Last updated: October 8, 2026

In short: RingShield helps you identify risky calls using reports from its own community, but it can't guarantee that it detects every scam or that every flagged number really is one. Use it as an extra help, not as your only precaution.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using RingShield, you accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

2. What RingShield is (and isn't)

RingShield — published in other countries as Bloquea.do and Bloqueou — is an app that identifies possible scam, telemarketing or wrong-number calls, using reports sent by its own community of users.

RingShield isn't an identity verification service, isn't a legal or law enforcement authority, and doesn't replace common sense or the precautions you already take. A number with no reports isn't necessarily safe; a number with reports isn't automatically and without exception a scam — it means other users flagged it.

3. Who can use the app

You must be at least 18 years old and have a Google account to create an account.

4. Your account

Your account is identified by your Google account. You're responsible for keeping access to it. If you suspect someone else accessed your account, email us right away (see "Contact" below).

5. Acceptable use of the reporting system

RingShield's value depends on reports being honest. By reporting a number, you declare that the call happened as you describe it.

You may not:

  • Report your own number.
  • Report a number just to harm someone (a legitimate business, an acquaintance, etc.) when the kind of call you describe didn't actually happen.
  • Create several accounts to make it look like more people are reporting the same number.

Not all reports count the same: the system gives a report more weight when there's evidence that the number really called you. We reserve the right to remove reports, and to restrict or close accounts, that abuse this system.

6. Usage limits

Automatic protection — checking who is calling you before you answer — has no limit, whatever your plan.

Manually looking up a number you type (for example, one you were given and want to check before calling) is limited to 5 lookups a month on the free plan. With any paid plan they're unlimited, and the blocking settings the free plan keeps at their defaults are unlocked too.

7. Paid plans and subscriptions

We offer two paid plans — Pro and Family — that unlock exactly the same features; the only difference between them is how many people they cover: one and four respectively, counting you.

All subscriptions are bought, charged, renewed and cancelled through Google Play, not through us. This means:

  • The current price is the one Google Play shows you at the time of purchase, in your currency and with any applicable taxes.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel it before. Google Play charges the renewal to the payment method you have on file.
  • You can cancel whenever you want from Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or from the "Manage subscription" button in the app. When you cancel, you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for; there are no charges after that.
  • Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies. If you believe you were charged in error, email us and we'll help you with the request, but the decision is Google's.
  • If we offer a free trial period, it becomes a paid subscription when it ends, unless you cancel it before. We tell you inside the app before that happens.

If your subscription expires or is cancelled, the app keeps working on the free plan: automatic protection continues, manual lookups go back to their monthly limit and the blocking settings return to their defaults.

8. Family group

The Family plan covers more than one person. Whoever pays for the plan is the group's owner and can invite the others by sharing a code with them.

  • To invite someone, the owner creates a code in the app and shares it by WhatsApp, text message or in person. Nobody's phone number is asked for. Each code expires after 7 days, and the owner can cancel it earlier.
  • The code only proves that whoever typed it got it from someone who had it: we don't verify who they are. That's why the owner is responsible for sharing it only with the people they want in their group.
  • By joining a group, the new member agrees that the owner and the other members can see the first and last name on their Google account. By inviting someone, the owner agrees that the members can see the ones on theirs.
  • What one person in the group blocks is blocked for everyone. When joining, or when first inviting someone if they're the owner, each person starts sharing their blocks: the numbers they report are also blocked on the others' phones, and the others can see on the Blocked screen which numbers they are, under which category and who blocked them. Each person can stop sharing them, and start again, with the "Share my blocks" switch on the Family screen; anyone already in a group before the app told them about this starts without sharing them. On the same screen, each person can choose to block only the numbers they reported themselves. Verified lines of banks and services that aren't sales lines, such as a bank's fraud prevention line, keep ringing for the others even if someone in the group reported them: they're only blocked for whoever reported them.
  • The owner can remove any member at any time, and a member can leave the group whenever they want. In both cases that person goes back to the free plan immediately.
  • If a member deletes their account, they leave the group and their spot is freed up. If the owner deletes theirs, the group is deleted with it and the members go back to the free plan.
  • While the group covers you, the owner pays for your plan and the app doesn't offer you another one: to have your own, first leave the group. If you were already paying for your own plan when you joined, Google Play keeps charging you for it until you cancel it (see section 7).
  • A member sees the same group list as the owner, read-only and without the invitation codes, and the group's blocked-call statistics. They don't see anyone else's lookup history or reports, except the numbers of those who share their blocks.
  • The group can't exceed the number of people the owner's plan covers. If the owner's plan expires, the members go back to the free plan.

9. Warranties and liability

RingShield is a support tool based on community reports, not an infallible system. We don't guarantee that:

  • Every scam call will be detected or blocked.
  • A number with no reports is necessarily safe.
  • A number with reports is, in every case, a confirmed scam.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we aren't liable for losses — of money, data or any other kind — that result from a call the app didn't identify in time, or from an incorrect report made by another user. Always follow basic precautions: never share a code you receive by text message, don't install apps a stranger asks you to install over the phone, and if you're ever unsure about a call from your bank, hang up and call the number printed on your card yourself.

10. Ownership of the service

The app, its design and its content (other than what users themselves report) belong to us. The number reputation database is the result of the community's collective effort, and for that very reason using it is free: automatic protection checks it without limit on any plan, and manual lookups have the limit in section 6.

11. Suspension or closure of accounts

We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, without prior notice when the case warrants it (for example, abuse of the reporting system). When reasonable, we'll try to notify you first.

You can close yours whenever you want, from Settings → Delete my account inside the app. What is and isn't deleted is in the Privacy Policy. Closing your account doesn't cancel an active subscription: that's done from Google Play (see section 7).

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. If the change is important, we'll tell you inside the app. The date of the last update appears at the top.
